Skirt Brushes

Escalators, travelators, and moving walks pose a risk when a user’s shoe or loose clothing comes close to the skirt panel, which can become trapped between the step and the skirt panel. Brushes, which can be referred to as the ‘skirt deflector,’ are specifically designed to mitigate the risk of objects becoming trapped between the moving steps/pallets and the escalator/travelator/moving walk side, known as the ‘skirt.’

Many severe escalator accidents have resulted from body parts, such as feet or hands, becoming caught between the escalator skirting and the moving steps. In some instances, these accidents have led to life-altering injuries. These incidents often occurred unintentionally, like slipping on the escalator, or occasionally deliberately, as when people run their feet along the skirt.

The skirt deflector serves to reduce the likelihood of entrapment by achieving two primary goals: It lessens the chances of items getting wedged between the steps and skirt by acting as an obstruction. Simultaneously, it deflects loose clothing and other potential hazards away from the danger zone, further reducing the risk of entrapment.
